Chardonnay was the name of a character on a TV programme called 'Footballers Wives'. People tend to use it as an example of a classic 'chav' name.

I can't get the link at the moment, but go to Urbandictionary and type in "chav". I too thought it was one of those kinds of names, ugh.

Ahh, ok. I wondered why there would be enough girls named Chardonnay to register on this poll. It's just such an odd name to be that popular. That explains it.
