I just met someone with a little girl named, "Bronte Charlotte."

I asked her why she named her this, and she said, "Of course, after the writer of Jane Eyre."

So then, I asked her, "Why didn't you just name her Charlotte? Don't you think Bronte sounds masculine?"

She answered... and I'm not kidding... "Obviously it's a female name, since that is her name. I'm not going to just go with Charlotte because it's more common."

Confused, I asked her, "Charlotte isn't that common, but I don't get why you flip-flopped her first and last name. If her name is too common, then why didn't you just pick something else?"

And we get to where you know she's going with this, "Um, her name is Bronte Charlotte. Look it up, you'll find, Jane Eyre, written by Bronte Charlotte. Bronte isn't common at all, and she has an incredible historical namesake. Do your research before being judgmental!"

I didn't bother telling her that there is a comma between Bronte and Charlotte, but I'm sure her daughter will point it out to her once she reaches her level of intelligence at what, age 9?
