Question

I just met a toddler named Wendolyn, nn Wendy. Is this a common variant of Gwendolyn that I've never seen before, or is this a 'new' name?

Ok. Thanks! I just wasn't sure if it was already an existing name by a different spelling, or if the mother had created it. Sounds like she invented the spelling, but it's not that bad...just not my style of name. I'd use Wendy as the birth name and be done with it.

Baby name books I've seen list Wendaline/Wendeline, so it's probably just a variation of those. Either way, I don't like it. =/

I'm not sure how I feel about Wendolyn...but Wendy is one of my favorite names right now. I'm considering using it, in fact.

Some other interesting things I forgot: Her middle name is Rose, and her mother's name is Carolyn. Very matchy, isn't it?
