I just met a toddler named Wendolyn, nn Wendy. Is this a common variant of Gwendolyn that I've never seen before, or is this a 'new' name?

It looks like a funky spelling of Wendelin.

Ok. Thanks! I just wasn't sure if it was already an existing name by a different spelling, or if the mother had created it. Sounds like she invented the spelling, but it's not that bad...just not my style of name. I'd use Wendy as the birth name and be done with it.
