Thoughts on Una? I have madly fallen in love with this name... sadly I doubt I'd ever be able to use it (una = female 'one/only' in Spanish) but ugh looove the sound in English, so... thoughts?
Gorgeous! I love it. I don't see why it's a big deal that it means one in Spanish... do you live in an area with lots of Spanish speakers or something? Maybe you could just make sure to spell it Úna or Ùna (whichever version you're going for) and people wouldn't think it was Spanish? I don't know.
I live in South America (Venezuela) and my entire family is form here... with the exception of one of my cousins and my little brother and sister (not my oldest) no one is a fluent English speaker. So... that is why I could nto really use it... there's an old saying here, "Sola como la una" that translates "alone like the number one" (all in female form).
I might eventually say 'to hell with it' as I don't plan on raising my kids here but yeah... my parents might have to poke fun at the name a lot.
lol yes... you should see their faces when I come to them with a name like Rhiannon... or a French name... I totally blame this on them for having me learn the languages =P
