Thoughts on Una? I have madly fallen in love with this name... sadly I doubt I'd ever be able to use it (una = female 'one/only' in Spanish) but ugh looove the sound in English, so... thoughts?

Gorgeous! I love it. I don't see why it's a big deal that it means one in Spanish... do you live in an area with lots of Spanish speakers or something? Maybe you could just make sure to spell it Úna or Ùna (whichever version you're going for) and people wouldn't think it was Spanish? I don't know.

I like it better than Uma, but is that an alternative?

If she's your first girl, it may not be a problem, you know? Or if she's the only girl, etc.
It could be a nickname even? I'm not sure for what, but I'm sure creative people here could come up with something.

All that aside, it was a character's name in the movie Stardust (great movie, everyone should see it!) and all her brothers were named things like Primus, Secundus, etc. up to Septimus. So if I saw that name on someone, that's immediately what I would think of.

I think it sounds kind of ugly. I don't find it attractive at all.

It also means "one" in italian too (as in, "one girl", or other feminine nouns).
I think I prefer Luna, though, it's more of a real name and that way it's like having two names in one!

i think of the game Uno of some insane reason lol. it sounds pretty but i think it would be a better nick name, and not necessarily short for something, just something you called her =]

It's totally a guilty pleasure name of mine, except I prefer it spelled Oona. I know an Oona and she is the coolest. :)

How is it pronounced? I only know one person named Una and it was Oo-na, like saying 'una' in Spanish.

I think of a city around where I live and let me tell you, you do NOT want to name a kid this if you live in SC. The city is pronounced You-nah but I'm assuming this is more of a Oo-nah
