Do any of you absolutely the way a name is spelled, but absolutely love it when it is spelled differently? I don't mean Kr8tve spellings, I am thinking of stephanie vs Stefanie, or Steven vs Stephen, etc.

Personally I hate Stephanie and love Stefanie because of the cultural connotations for me.

How about you?

Yeah, I really like Stefan but not any other spelling of it.

I like Norah but not Nora, and Eleanor but not Elinor. That's about all I can think of.

Wow I almost completely disagree with you, except for Anne. I hate Isobel, Allison and Sarah!

Gyah, I am really drawing a blank now, but I know there are several names like that for me. One I could think of is the name Sara/Sarah. I like Sara, but I really don't like that H at the end. I don't know why, really, I just don't.
Oh yeah also, my mom's name, Janice, is imo much nicer looking that Janis.

I agree with you on Janice vs Janis. I think Janis looks strangely incomplete.

I wouldn't say I *hate* one spelling and love another, but I definitely have my preferred spellings for pretty much any name. Or I may like them essentially equally, but I think they give very different connotations.

For instance, I see Sophie/Sophia as being shyer and quieter somehow than Sofie/Sofia. Same with Sara vs. Sarah.

I actually prefer Stephanie over Stefanie, because Stephanie is *my* name hehe.

Anne instead of Ann
Sean or Shaun instead of Shawn
Catherine instead of Katherine, Kathryn, or Catharine

I know that there are names like this for me but I am drawing a complete blank right now. For the record though I like STephanie over Stefanie but that's because my best friend's name is Stephanie.

I can't stand any variant/creative spellings of word names; because either way it's still the word, so it looks wrong and surely people will spell it like the word anyway.
Saige in particular makes my teeth itch.

I like ...
Clair not Claire/Clare (mostly by personal association)
Esme not Esmee
Bronwen not Bronwyn (well the -wen vs. -wyn trend in general)
Kiran not Kieran/Kyran

In general if there are K vs. C variations of a name (e.g. Casey, Callie), then I prefer them with a C. Unless it's Kate.

Well, to be fair to Bronwen/Bronwyn the "wyn" generally indicates a Welsh heritage rather than a Scot heritage.

For example, Rhys is a traditional spelling of Reece and Reese, and not Kry8tive.

From: [identity profile] sageharper.livejournal.com
Yes, I'm aware of that. You really don't need to tell me about traditional spellings on that score; I'm a great advocate of those (as it is I have Welsh & Scottish heritage, so maybe that's it).

Yes. I dislike a number of differently spelled names. *shrugs* preference.

I love Emilie but hate Emily, Love Meghan but hate Megan, love Caomihe but hate Keeva (and all other irish names, like Ciara vs Keira. They need to have traditional spellings), love Cate hate Kate. Most names for me depend on the spelling.
