Hating one spelling but loving another?
Aug. 1st, 2009 01:22 pmDo any of you absolutely the way a name is spelled, but absolutely love it when it is spelled differently? I don't mean Kr8tve spellings, I am thinking of stephanie vs Stefanie, or Steven vs Stephen, etc.
Personally I hate Stephanie and love Stefanie because of the cultural connotations for me.
How about you?

Date: 2009-08-01 08:02 pm (UTC)For instance, I see Sophie/Sophia as being shyer and quieter somehow than Sofie/Sofia. Same with Sara vs. Sarah.
I actually prefer Stephanie over Stefanie, because Stephanie is *my* name hehe.

I like ...
Clair not Claire/Clare (mostly by personal association)
Esme not Esmee
Bronwen not Bronwyn (well the -wen vs. -wyn trend in general)
Kiran not Kieran/Kyran
In general if there are K vs. C variations of a name (e.g. Casey, Callie), then I prefer them with a C. Unless it's Kate.
