There is indeed no "ch" phoneme in Arabic as there is in English. There are 3 phonemes in Arabic that I would guess to be the actual pronounciation... Kh- Khadi instead of Chadi would be more representative.. the sound is sort of mix of a "k" and a cat hissing. Doesnt exist in English. Hh- they have a very gutteral "h" sound, it comes from the throat Gh- best way to explain it would be a rolling "g" sound. Nonetheless, I find the spelling odd no matter what. Are you sure he is actually Arab? Because if actually from Afganastan, Pakistan, Iran- they have their own language & culture that is not Arabic. When I first read the name my immediate "presumption" for all that's worth was a Muslim hailing from India or those parts. I'd be interested in knowing how he pronounces it and what country he is from!
Sometimes the Arabic 'a' is pronounced like the English (American) 'a' in 'can'. I suppose it's either Chah-dee or Cheh-dee.
A girl who went to the same high school as me was called Chadia...but she pronounced it CHAD-ee-ah, with 'ch' as in 'check'. So I suppose it totally depends on where he's from! (I know this is not helping, haha ;)).
