your own sibset
Jul. 19th, 2009 01:03 pmFamily related questions. First, what are the names of the sibset you're in (assuming you have siblings?) Do you think your parents did a good job of making your names sound good together? Second, are there any names that you love that you can't use due to usage by other family members? And third.. any sibsets in your family (whether it be your own children, your sibling's, a cousin, whatever) that you really like?
(my answers)
1) Jessica Lynne, Eric Donald, Brian Nicholas
Donald and Nicholas are my grandfather's names... I think the combo sounds good, but maybe that's just because I grew up to being "Jessica, Eric, and Brian" all of my life.
2) Personally, there's very little that would stop me from using a name I like (I figure there's a high chance they'll have friends or classmates with the same name as them anyway) BUT I've always loved "Riley" for a girl but feel I cannot use it since it would be a cousin to a boy, Riley James. The same name but different genders is just a little too much for me.
3) The names have all gotten a lot more popular recently, but I still love them regardless. Let me also note that my grandmother is 100% Irish and these are the children of three of her nieces (so, my mother's cousins.. also strictly Irish). Unfortunately I don't know middle names. Conor (13), Riley (f 12), and Aidan (8). Colleen (8) and Ciara (7). Liam (7).

Date: 2009-07-19 07:51 pm (UTC)I really like the way my sister's name looks. It flows nicely. And I guess my name's okay, haha. I had problems with being Amanda but now I'm fine with it. Deborah and Daniel are also each other's half-sibs, but I think their names go together well.
My cousin used a name that I had my heart set on: Natalia (and she was born the day after my birthday so double-heartbreak, hah). I'm still planning on using it because 1. Natalia will be WAY older than my daughter, 2. I'm want to name my daughter Natalie, not Natalia, and 3. It's got a special meaning to me. I also have a cousin named Elias, but I want to use it as a middle name.
I love Samuel, Elias, and Zachary (I think his name is actually Zacharias, though...which was my grandmother's maiden name), my cousin Maria's sons. That's probably my favorite sibset. I figured out that most of my cousins have the name Maria as their first or middle name, and so I can't say I have a favorite sibset there.
