People wouldn't call a young Peter 'Pete' nowadays, would they? Because I love Peter but HATE Pete.

What names do you love but really dislike a nickname for it? Would you hesitate to use them because of this?

I kinda like Thomas. It works really well with a lot of my other boy options. But, my husband and I both HATE HATE HATE Tommy/Tom/etc. *vomits* So we're looking for better options.

I know a Thomas who has only ever been called Thomas so it can be done :P

Actually now that I think about it. I know 2! One is in his 30's (and has never been called Tom) another is my sister's nephew. He's 4 and no one calls him Tom.
