I have been wondering this for the longest time, how do you pronounce Maeve?

And also, I came across this name while I was on vacation: Lyric.
Never heard that before and every time i see it it grows on me- WDYT?

Lyric is in the Top 1000 for both sexes, and I hate it. It's not as bad as the other trendy word names of late, but I find it tacky all the same.

Maeve is pronounced MAYV.

MAY-v in english. It doesn't exist in italian, but if it did, I'd pronounce it Mah-EH-vay

I've been seeing Lyric quite a bit. I can't say I hate it, although it seems queer on boys and I've seen it mostly on them.

may-v, rhymes with save.
It's not something I'd use, but has a good ring to it.

Had a goat named Maeve. My dads girlfriend always said "My-Ev".

Guess it was 'wrong'.

I think Maeve is the anglicization of Medhbh, but it's developed its own pronunciation as a separate name.

Lyric is a bit odd but goes with things like Melody I guess.

I like the name Lyric - I've heard it on boys and girls numerous times.

My friend's daughter(who I'm babysitting right now in fact) has the middle name Maeve and they pronounce it May-ev.

It's pronounced MAYV. It's the Anglicization of Medb. I love it.

I don't really like Lyric. It does have a pretty sound, but I don't like word names. I prefer Lyra.

I've always pronounced it like... Mave

I know someone who has a little girl Lyric. I think it's quite a harsh sound for a girls' name but too feminine for a boy. Not that I like super frilly girly names either though, but Lyric just feels really rough and scratchy in my mouth.

Maeve is my top favorite name! It's just like everyone else said: Mayv ;)

Lyric is not bad, but not my style either.
