[identity profile] isunova.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
A couple cousins of mine have had babies recently. One is Isabella Taylor, a popular name to go along with brother Ayden. The other is McRae - a girl - who has a sister called Tiana. (I don't know any of the other middle names.) My sister, mom & I made fun of 'McRae' and the torment she'll go through, but it's not -quite- as horrible as it seems: the mother pronounces it mih-cray, not mic-ray. Still, though. She's Italian, so Tiana makes sense, but where on earth did McRae come from? I think Isabella is a cute name, but it brings to mind the terrifyingly popular Twilight series, and both names in that sibset are too popular for my taste. What do you think?

A friend of mine also had a baby girl recently that she named Juliet, middle name either Rae or Rosalie; I never found out what they decided on. I prefer Rae to Rosalie and I know that was what she wanted, so I hope she won that battle. She's rather firm that Juliet never be nicknamed because she doesn't like Julie or Jules, which of course is wishful thinking, but I think it's a pretty cute name all the same. I have to agree with her on Julie/Jules though. Do any of you know any other nicknames for Juliet? And which do you prefer - Rae or Rosalie?

I've never fully understand why people make fun of people because of their name.

You are adults, you should know better.

I'd quite happily make fun of the mother for her vile naming tastes though.

There's a farm around here called McCray's farm which is what McRae reminds me of.

I prefer Rosalie as a name but I think Juliet Rae sounds better.

The only nn i can think of is Lee maybe? Etta, maybe?

McRae is Scottish, so it's strange coming from an Italian mother.

Perhaps the father is a Scot? My friend wants to name her fb son McDaid (her mom's maiden name) - I veto.

Juliet Rosalie is lovely, Rae puts a really downmarket vibe on the gorgeous Juliet.
McRae is absolutely awful, I'm struggling to think of anything worse.

Juliet Rosalie is too close to Juliet Rosaline!

Tiana = not italian at all.

McRae is a stupid name, very unfortunately for the girls.
The parents should have gotten kicked in the head.

I really like Isabella Taylor, trendy or not I don't care.
I also like Juliet a lot, but Rosalie makes me gag.
