[identity profile] gothikbutterfly.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My husband and I are planning on naming our son (who is due today, by the way) Chasval, and we haven't really decided on a middle name. My husband and I both like the names Hadrian and Gerik, but we're not sure which sounds better... Or if a different name would be better. So which do you think sounds better?

Chasval Hadrian
Chasval Gerik

And, in case you're not sure, Chasval is pronounced [caz-vall] and we've been pronouncing Gerik [ger-ick], rhyming with Derrek (however it's spelled).

I know Chasval is a very odd name, but when I first heard it, it just felt right. It's a name from an old Gundam series, so, I didn't make it up.

Any thoughts? Negative and positive are both wanted! Thanks!

[I'm sorry if my post seems rushed... I'm not very good at getting my ideas out proper today...]

You can be unique without harming your child's future though. Unique may be fun, to you, but not for the child in question. Already, another person and I don't like it. Imagine how he would feel going to apply for a job. Do you think people will take him seriously?

Exactly... I don't watch anime, but still, I wouldn't have thought it was from any sort of anime thing until you said so in the post. it just sounded like an extremely pretentious european name to me... a style i like, lol.

Because it sounds like a silly name to me. I'm not trying to be mean, sorry if I sound that way, but I think your child will not be taken seriously in anything with the name from a cartoon show.

exactly. Wanting him to have an uncommon name is fine, but there are TONS of "regular" classic uncommon names. You have to think about the child as something other than a 3 year old. He's going to be correcting every teacher he ever has, spelling his name for everyone, etc.
