Okay, ignoring what you might think of the names themselves...

Do you think Gabrielle and Isabella are too similar for a sibset?

No, I don't. I like them both separately and as a set. I think as long as one ends in the "ah/uh" sound and the other doesn't they're fine, but Gabrielle and Isabel, for example, I don't like because it's so rhyme-y.

YES. It's 'elle' overload. That, and I don't think the names, barring their sound, similar enough to work. Personally, a Gabrielle is a laid-back, sporty, talkative kind of woman who's not necessarily beautiful, while Isabella is dark, regal, a bit flighty, and gorgeous.

*are similar enough in style. I'd pair Isabella with Anastasia and Ophelia before I'd pair it with Gabrielle.

thats funny. i dont picture those names fitting those women at all.

Really? Do tell. :)

I think it's a very nice sibset.

[identity profile] kilobites.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
It's not too close. Gabriella and Isabella would be, and Gabrielle and Isabel would be, but the way it is now, no.

[identity profile] cherryboomstick.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Not at all.

[identity profile] arbus.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
no i dont think so, as long as one has the -ah at the end, and one is without.

[identity profile] babyjess8.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
agree

[identity profile] breenah.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
I love them both and think they'd work well as a set.

[identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
Personally it's too much elle for me, but it's probably borderline and could be pulled off.

[identity profile] th3-unicorn.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
If they ended with the same sound, then yeah, they'd be too matchy, but like this I think they're fine!

[identity profile] cremepuff.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they're just fine. Gabrielle is one of the names I really wish I could use, but it would rhyme with my last name and I don't want to do that to my kid. :(

[identity profile] stormqueen280.livejournal.com 2009-03-01 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
They work well together, yes. And both are very pretty names.

[identity profile] freezemyazaleas.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
I think they're too similar. My rule is, if two names could have the same nickname (in this case Elle), they're too similar. I also happen to hate both of these names, but that's a different story.
