I'm apathetic about Israel Jordan. I don't like it, but I don't dislike it either.

Date: 2009-02-27 07:26 pm (UTC)I do like Israel, but not with Jordan, it just seems like someone spun a globe and pointed to two countries and said 'thats it!" lol.

Date: 2009-02-27 07:36 pm (UTC)Panda is horrible. Pandora with Panda as a nickname is cute and a lot better.
(And for the record, the "kids will make fun of everyone's names" argument is one of my major pet peeves. They may indeed, but why paint a target on your kid's back with the words "Please mock me!" written in neon letters? That's like saying that ripping off a bandaid will hurt a little no matter what you do, so you might as well rip it off with a chainsaw. 1.) Bad logic, and 2.) Even worse when your child is the one who has to deal with it, not you)

Date: 2009-02-27 08:00 pm (UTC)My mind immediately wanted me to say "Panda" in a really singsong way. PANda. Paaaaanda. Pan. Da.
Maybe it's because of this?
I think it's funny people are all enthusiastic about Pandora as an alternative. Pandas are funny and all, but the original Pandora (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandora) about as bleak a namesake as I can imagine.

Date: 2009-02-27 08:27 pm (UTC)Pandora with Panda as a nickname might work if I didn't know anything about Greek mythology, but I do. So, while the name sounds good, it has some not-o-nice connotations. I wouldn't use it, but it's infinitely better than Panda.
As for Israel Jordan... I have bad experiences with the name Israel, it's the name of a guy that I know who's a complete pain. So I wouldn't use it. But the name itself is not bad, and the combo sounds nice.

Date: 2009-02-27 08:35 pm (UTC)I can't wrap my mind around naming a child 'Panda' though, I think she would grow to be very resentful.

Date: 2009-02-27 10:06 pm (UTC)Israel Jordan West had a nice ring to it, but I have major issues with it. First, it's too political. I have no idea what your stances are, but keep in mind that your child may one day decide that s/he ought to fight for Palestine (whatever that means). The "Israel West" looks like it should have a <3 in the middle of it, as in "Israel <3 West" Does that make sense? It just isn't a name a child should bear. :( Jordan, too, when put in the middle of Israel and West, is too much. Too much geography, you know?

Date: 2009-02-27 10:36 pm (UTC)I like the sound panda, but I think the kid would suffer a lot for it. Has it ever been used as a name?
