How about Pandora Mae West with Panda as a nickname? That way she has a "normal" name to use for official purposes/if she's teased a lot for being named Panda.

I think Panda is bad, she would deffinitly be made fun of, and she would probably grown to hate it because of being made fun of.

Israel Jordan is waaaay too much with the geography.

Panda is horrible. Pandora with Panda as a nickname is cute and a lot better.

(And for the record, the "kids will make fun of everyone's names" argument is one of my major pet peeves. They may indeed, but why paint a target on your kid's back with the words "Please mock me!" written in neon letters? That's like saying that ripping off a bandaid will hurt a little no matter what you do, so you might as well rip it off with a chainsaw. 1.) Bad logic, and 2.) Even worse when your child is the one who has to deal with it, not you)

I think Panda is terrible, sorry. I like the suggestion of using Pandora with the nn Panda if you're set on it. But if the kid grows up hating Panda, she can go by Pandora.

yeah i also think panda is bad, sorry. it can't be taken seriously and will cause problems later in life. whenever i'm considering a name i think about whether or not i'd like it to be MY name, i definitely am glad my name is not panda.

i do like the pandora/panda idea though, and i think you should consider it. i think panda would make a very cute nickname.

I think it's funny people are all enthusiastic about Pandora as an alternative. Pandas are funny and all, but the original Pandora (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandora) about as bleak a namesake as I can imagine.

I don't disagree that Pandora sounds nice, and hell — it IS an improvement over Panda, in my opinion. Just not sure that's particularly a great thing. Says more about the original option, maybe?

Israel is okay. Not my style but nowhere near as horrendous as Panda. It sounds like a joke name late night talk show hosts would make up in order to poke fun of ridiculous celebrity baby names.

Well, Panda belongs to the point and laugh category, sorry. It's just one of those names that you cannot resist. And you'll get a lot of people asking 'what were you thinking', which is something you might want to avoid, especially if you're not a very patient person, like me.

Pandora with Panda as a nickname might work if I didn't know anything about Greek mythology, but I do. So, while the name sounds good, it has some not-o-nice connotations. I wouldn't use it, but it's infinitely better than Panda.

As for Israel Jordan... I have bad experiences with the name Israel, it's the name of a guy that I know who's a complete pain. So I wouldn't use it. But the name itself is not bad, and the combo sounds nice.

I'm sorry, I would laugh my ass off at anyone named Panda. I do love the name Pandora though, but I don't see Panda as a nickname from it. I'm not fond of Isreal Jordan, it's not a bad name mind you, It's just not my style.
