Feb. 17th, 2009 02:57 pmI feel so bad for one of the kids I teach. His name is Agabus. What do you think? Is that not the cruelest name you can call a child?
Here are other interesting names of kids I teach:
Seth
Evan (Girl)
Dante
Monty (Montgomery)
Medina
Hazel
Rachel
Isabella
Mason
Shakeel
Sahib (pronounced SIGH-hib)
Harshdeep
Thoughts?

Date: 2009-02-17 10:45 pm (UTC)Agabus was an early follower of Christianity mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles as a prophet. He is traditionally remembered as one of the Seventy Disciples described in Luke 10:1-24.
I'm interested in biblical names, and it was a biblical name that I created the name of my son from. I've gotten flack for the name, but I don't think it's as bad as some bible names, like Agabus.
I'm very curious to know how this child named Agabus feels about his name, and if he gets teased much at all. Could you possibly let me know?
I also think Harshdeep is worse. It just looks like two words put together, and to me it is saying "bad trouble". The other one is bad so I wont type it here haha.

If I named a child something that they ended up hating, I would definitely either change it or give them a nick name as an alternative. With Agabus I see no good nick name just from it, and it just doesn't sound good, so I don't understand how the parents could choose it in the first place. But once they know how much their child hates it, and that it's causing teasing like that they should do something about it.
