I feel so bad for one of the kids I teach. His name is Agabus. What do you think? Is that not the cruelest name you can call a child?

Here are other interesting names of kids I teach:

Seth
Evan (Girl)
Dante
Monty (Montgomery)
Medina
Hazel
Rachel
Isabella
Mason
Shakeel
Sahib (pronounced SIGH-hib)
Harshdeep

Thoughts?

I don't know which one is worse, Agabus or Harshdeep... what were the parents smoking?

Harshdeep is a traditional Indian name. I doubt they were smoking anything.

I've never heard of Agabus before, though. I googled it and it's in the Bible. It has all sorts of unpleasant sounds in it. "Ag", "uh" "bus".

Really? Traditional? It sounds like someone took random words from a dictionary and just put them together. Is it originally spelled this way?

It still looks horrible for me, one of those names that works well in its culture, and nowhere else. You know, like Candida. It's a perfectly normal name in Portuguese-speaking countries. A bit old-fashioned, true, but perfectly legit.

Yes it's fairly common. There are many Indian names that end with -deep.
I would imagine their dictionary is different from ours.
