i have recently fallen smitten with the name ellery for a girl. i love the nickname ellie.

what do we think?

also, a friend of a friend (of a friend) i met recently... late 20's... myllissa (pronounced just like melissa)

First thing I thought of was celery, but I don't think it's an outright bad name.
It could grow on me, but there are other names with "Ellie" nicknames that I like better- Eleanor, Ellen, Elle. Those all feel more like "real" names to me (not saying Ellery isn't real or is made up, but its not a name I'm familiar with at all).

Hehe.. ditto.. all I think of is Celery. Different, but maybe a bit out of my tastes even though I'm pretty liberal on interesting names.
