Is Acadia a legit name? Would you use it? Do you like it? Do you know someone with the name- and how old is she? Could Catie/Caty or Cady be used as a nickname?
Thanks. I really love Catie, Caty, Caitey, Cady... all of those. My family has negative ties to a Katie, though. I think I’m just trying to think of some way to use it without that being a problem. I’ve always like Caitlin, but I’m doing a project on Acadia National Park and I’m thinking “that’s a reallly pretty name!” Now I’m here. Lol. I usually like place names but in a way that I don’t think I’d really ever use them… but I really like Acadia.
its a name if you want it to be one. Acadia makes me think of the GMC Acadia that my grandpa drives but thats ok because Aurora and Sable are both in my list of names for my baby girl, and those are both cars too.
To me, Acadia is a place, and I can't really separate it as a personal name from that... I would think it was kind of weird for someone with no Acadian connection to use it, too. That's just me, though.
I didn't say that there was anything wrong with it, just that I personally couldn't separate it from the place name. Especially since Acadia isn't generally used as a name, whereas something like Savannah is a lot more commonly seen as a personal name.
I've heard of Acacia, but not Acadia. I don't like it. Too close to Arcadia and arcade. There's something kinda clunky about it. Just doesn't have a very nice flow. Okay, I'll say it, Acadia is just an ugly sound.
I'm just the opposite. I didn't even think about arcades... I thought of cascades, I guess that's why I liked it and see it as more serene instead of clunky, you know? Acacia... thanks, I've never heard of that. I don't think I like it as much.
I know an Acadia! She's in her mid-later twenties, and a neat person. I don't know her -that- well, but I believe she goes by her full name most of the time.
I know someone who used it as a mn for their daughter. She was named after the National Park in Maine. Her full name was Jocelyn Acadia. She's probably about 6 years old now.
I think it's fine as a name, and I think Cady is a good nn for it.
Where I live, you would probably get laughed at so darn much. We would all just look at the kid and be like, "why did your parents name you after the university three minutes away?" Or, "why did your parents name you after the group of people that got expelled from here hundreds of years ago?"
I actually love the name Acadia.. for a human. I think it's creative and pretty. I see nothing wrong with place names. Not everyone named Savannah has a connection to Savannah GA.. and so on.
I thought you wrote Acacia so I was going to say yes, but I have never actually met anyone named Acadia. I don't like it as much as I would have liked Acacia but I think that Cady would be a good nickname for it!
I really like Acadia nn Cadie. I have considered it myself. even though I know the Nova Scotia connection, as long as you don't live in a place named Acadia you should be fine. I live in Savannah GA, and when people name their children here Savannah.....it just sounds strange! but before I moved here, I kind of liked the name Savannah.

I have a friend named Cady (full name, not a nickname) and she's 21. I would just use Cady instead of Acadia nn Cady.
