Jan. 30th, 2009 11:19 pmI've been going through my name list in behindthename.com and I thought it might be fun to post my most serious favorite name list here. There are names from many sources in the list, mostly Finnish or Nordic with English etc. names thrown in too.
Absolute favorites are bolded :>)
girls:
Aino - a character in Finnish mythology
Anita - this name is weird for me because I consider it a very Finnish name but I only like it pronounced in an English way
Anna
Annika
Astrid
Aura - pronounced in a Finnish way only. Means plough in Finnish.
Carla
Carolina
Elizabeth/Elisabeth - after my mother Liisa
Frida
Ilona - ilo means joy in Finnish
Irene
Kristiina - middle name
Laila
Malin
Margarita - middle name
Paloma
Pandora
Pauline (Poppy) - after my brother Pauli and our uncle
Rauha - means peace in Finnish
Rebecca - middle name
Ronja
Stella
Willa
boys:
Aleksei
Elias
Emil
James
Mathias
Mats
Rikhard/Rickhard/Richard - after my grandfather Rickhard
Stefan
Taisto - means fight in Finnish
WDYT about the names? Some of the Finnish names may sound a bit weird but they are all legit names and some probably a bit old fashioned, too. I'd really appreciate suggestions for boys names that might fit in with my taste because as you can see the boys names list is a bit short :>)
