What do you think of the name India?

I LOVE it and think it's absolutely gorgeous.  I have no connection to India, though.  Would it be too awkward on a little white girl?

In the film "Because of Winn-Dixie" the girl is named India Opal.

If I remember from the book, her dad was in the military and stationed in India? She did have a connection to it though.
