How do you pronounce Leah?

A friend of mine just had a baby and named her Leah. Hubby and I thought it was pronounced different ways. I eventually asked her how she was pronouncing it. So I was just curious on how everyone else pronounces it :)

Yep, in Hebrew they are pronounced LAY-uh and RUH-khel. (with the Hebrew "ch" sound, as in "chanukah").

Biblical scholars will still pronounce these names as Leah, Rachel, Joseph, Isaac, Abraham, Moses, etc. But Jewish Torah scholars will almost always refer to them by their Hebrew names (Leah, Rachel, Yosef, Yitzhak, Abraham, Moshe, etc.)
