babynamesI know that the top 1000 Social Security names are released every May for the previous year, but does anyone know when in May that list usually comes out? I'm having a baby in late May/ early June, and I'm going to be so angry if the names we picked have made it onto the list. I want to see it now!!!

Date: 2006-05-03 11:27 am (UTC)I tend to err toward uncommon names myself so totally understand. Even so us 'name-nerds' overanalyse these things a bit. Names usually have to be in the top 50-100 before you start noticing them as a trend IRL. Top 30 for there to be others in their class with the same name. Even then there is a lot greater variety of names being used and the top names aren't as common place as they used to be.
A name isn't going to make a massive leap in just one year, particually if it's not in the top 1000 to start with, so last year's list should still be pretty accurate.
