Ok I'm in pre-labour, it's crunch time on the baby name front.

This is out list - please vote, or comment with scathing reviews! The more scathing you are, the more I'd appreciate alternatives suggested just to prove your superior taste! =D

I've never put much stock in the 'what will kids call him at school' thing. The schools I like, my kids will be horribly mainstream anyway.
Kids will find a reason to pick on kids no matter what they are called I've noticed. Plus, it might be morbid, but I always think about how people will relate to a name when my kid is 80 years old and alone in the world without me to protect them.
That is when they are more vulnerable. (I've spent a lot of time in nursing homes in the past year or so.)

But cultural shifts and changes make it impossible to know what attitudes will be like, so I guess you just have to take your chances and pick a nice "safe" middle name ;)

Well, true. I'm just a bit more wary of out-there names. Not necessarily offbeat, but truly weird or silly. Lyric, Huck, Hyde, Tripp, and Ziggy come to mind here. Lyric is girly and a bit cheesy, Hyde looks like either a misspelled word or reminds me of Chicago, when I see Tripp I think of how the guy in the front row tripped me on my first day of fourth grade, and Ziggy is... loopy. And Romulus is a no, because the guy didn't have too hot of a relationship with his brother. :p

The others I rejected were rejected purely out of personal taste; I wouldn't use them, but I don't think they'd be bad to use. He'd be unique, yes? Which I guess is your goal. :D

Lyric I didn't even think was a name but other people liked it so it went on...
Huck seems really old school to me, I would honestly never even consider it wierd, just old fashioned you know?
Tripp seems really pretentious, Ziggy is one of mine I really like it...but again I don't have the cultural associations other people have, Marley/music.
Romulus sadly I do really love, but I am suspicious of my own taste there *grin*

I don't really care about being unique per se, I mean I don't like the standard Jack, John, Noah, Luca etc names every kid has but honestly I think I could at this point, accept children coming pre-named by the government.
