So... I'm finally pregnant! Yay! I'm only about 11 weeks along, so we don't know yet if it's going to be a boy or a girl (and we're not really sure we want to find out early!). My husband says he only wants to find out if we can't settle on a boy's name and a girl's name. That way we would only have to focus on figuring out one name. I hope that makes sense...
Anyway... we have a boy's name: Zachary Alexander. I don't love the middle name as much as the first, but it's what we've agreed on. His initials would be "ZAG"... Doesn't bother me, but my husband seems to think this is really cool.
It's girl's names that are driving me crazy. I can't think of a single one that I like as much as I like "Zachary" for a boy.
I like Chloe.
I like Cassandra.
I like Elise.
(I really like Bethany, but he doesn't.)
He doesn't really make up name lists, he just says "yes" or "no" to my suggestions, which is fine, since I'm not really in love with any of them.
The only girl's name that we seem to agree on actually using is Zoe. I kind of like Zoe Claire or Zoe Pearl - a one syllable middle name starting with a consonant. He really likes the idea of "ZAG" for the initials (or, alternatively, "ZIG"), but I'm not sure I like the way "Zoe" sounds with a name starting with a vowel as the middle name.
He suggested Zoe Alexandra (which I don't really like), and I've come up with Zoe Anne, Zoe Ava, Zoe Annette, and Zoe Astrid (and Zoe Inara (yay Firefly!)). I think I like Anne the best, but I'm still not sure about the way they sound...
Any ideas? "A" names, "I" names, or short names starting with a consonant?

I think you're right, a name starting with a consonant might be easier, but I think names like Annette and Astrid, where the focus is more on the hard N and T sounds, can also sound good.
