Names for girl children are hard. grrrrr.

I like Elisabeth and Ella - but both are super common.

If you had to choose... what is your number one, super awesome choice?

Maybe it'll inspire me to make a choice.

Ella.

I find girls names easier than boys!

My partner and I struggled for AGES to think of the perfect boys name, but we had the girls name picked out when I was like 12 weeks pregnant, lol.

Between Elisabeth and Ella, I'd choose Ella.

My number one girl's name is Claire.

No, I just love it a ton. I always have and I'm not quite sure why!

Harriet.

However, everyone hates it. So I'd probably go with Anne/Annie.

What about Eliza or Eleanor? Eliza is less common, but still similar, and Eleanor could be Ella, but could also be the less-common Norah if the popular of Ella bothered you.

I love Norah, too:)

See, I always see "old" sounding names seeming spunky on a little girl/teenager and intelligent and unique on an adult. I have ones like Louisa, Harriet, Eleanor, Anne, Margaret, Matilda, etc. on my list, but Harriet just seems like "too much" to most people. With most of those, I can at least get a nickname that people won't pick on (Mattie, Meg, Ellie, etc.), but with Harriet it's too much of a battle, haha.

I like Mattie better -- it seems more contemporary as a nickname, which is what I'd like to go for -- old fashioned/timeless given name with the possibility of a cute/trendy/hip nickname if necessary. Tilly seems just as old fashioned to me as Matilda (but I do think it's cute!).

My top four right now are Anne/Annie, Margaret/Meg, Eleanor/Ellie, and Louisa/possibly Lia, but probably just Louisa.

I know a Harriet who is about 13, and she's just Harriet. She doesn't need a nickname, because her name suits her completely.

i think ella is less common than elisabeth, but elisabeth is classier to me. it's one of my favorites, actually, and i see no reason you can't use both, ella being a nickname for elisabeth.

and my number one girls name is either katherine or abigail, i have no idea which i like more.

I like common names so I'm no help :( but I'll tell you anyway!

Sophie Jane and Natalie Claire are currently my top two names. Sophie Jane is my number one because the Jane is after my grandma.

Elisabeth/Elizabeth is very very pretty and while it may be common, it's also a timeless name so I think you can get away with using it :) and if you use that one, you can also still use Ella as a nn so you get both names :)

Eloise is my hands down all time favorite girls name....right now. And Ella could be a nickname for Eloise if you really wanted.

I like Elisabeth because it has so many nickname possibilities... Ellie, Elle, Beth, Betty, Betsy, Liz, Lizzie, Lisa, Libby, etc.

As for my number one name in general, I plan on naming my first born daughter Leslie Blair.

I like Elisabeth much, much more. :)

My husband and I are split with names. The only one we agree on is Mathilde (me: Mathilde Katherine, him Mathilde Jane) and then he really likes Alice, and I'm split between Esme and Etta. Oh, and we both like Eleanor, nn Norah. Now me, I can't pick a boy's name to save my life lol!

I really like Elisabeth though it is common. But the spelling Elisabeth is unique in a good way :>)

My number one girls name is Aino (pronounced eye-no). It's a Finnish name, from the word "ainoa" which means the only one. It's also the name of a girl in the Finnish mythology but her story ends very sadly.

Lydia is my favorite girl's name right now. It happens to have been my maternal grandmother's name. I'm not normally into using family names unless I love the name otherwise and this one I do.

Between Ella and Elizabeth I would choose Elizabeth as the full name and use Ella as a nickname.

I've been thinking of Evie for a long time, although I'm not sure if I'd go for Evangeline, which I like more but is a bit trendy and a bit 'much' for some people, or Evelyn.

I also really like Sophia, popular or not, at the moment. So if I had a little girl right now, her name would probably be Evangeline Sophia or Evelyn Sophia. But this is me - I change my mind far too often!

Oh, and I love both Ella and Elisabeth, but I like Elisabeth just a bit more.

My number one, super awesome choice is Olive. Dreama is coming up strong for me, but I love Olive.

PS: I think Elisabeth is prettier.

My number one girls name is Cordelia. I love it.

Between your two, I like Elisabeth better (especially the way you're spelling it). It's a nice name and has a lot of nickname possibilities. :)

of those two names, i would choose elisabeth, but i really really love both.

my number one girls name flip flops between ruby and francesca (frankie).

Between the two, I like Elisabeth MUCH better. I know a lot of people do, but I just don't like Ella.

My number one, super awesome name is Persephone.

I'd pick Ella, though I think Elisabeth is more timeless.

My top girls name pick ATM is Leah. I already have an Emilie Claire and Hannah Paige. I find girls names so much easier than boys! :)

I love Elisabeth spelt like that! :)

As for me, my top girls names seem to waver, just because I love so many of them. Right now I'd say my top one is Alexandra, with Katherine close behind, but that could change, just because I have a whole bunch that I adore. On the other hand, it takes a lot for me to like a boy's name -- and once I like it, I usually stick with it, haha.

Elisabeth because it won't date. Ella has had a more sudden spike in popularity, so it'll be more of an "Ashley" or "Tiffany" in popularity. Elisabeth has been very steady, so it'll be more of an "Anna" in popularity, which I approve of.

Elisabeth. Ten times more classic and flexible, plus you can just call her Ella (or Tibby, Beth, or Lisa) as a nickname.

And today, my favorite girls' name is Emeline. Emma-leen, because I hate the 'lynn' ending.

Elise is my all time favorite name, and also my daughter's name! It's close to Elisabeth and Ella, but not super popular at the moment ;)

I like both Elisabeth and Ella.

My current favorite, if I had to name a baby tomorrow, is Miranda.
