[identity profile] mrsbenglish.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
So if any of you are in November or December due date community you know my story... my waters have been broken for 60+ hours now and we are awaiting the arrival of our sweet baby girl. (Don't worry everyone is perfectly healthy, and things are starting to move along!)

Because of such a long wait we've decided we may want to change her middle name to something different...and more appropriate ;)

Her first name is going to be Lilliana (pronounced Lily-on-ah) her middle name was/or may still be Elizabeth (depending on if we find something else we like), and our last name is English.

SO what I'm looking for are names that mean something along the lines of waiting, patience, suspense, great deal of time, anticipation...you get the point.

So spam me with some names :)

OMG congratulations on your imminent big event :D

There's one name that came to my mind that would suit the situation, but in maybe a twisted way :D the name is Valentina (or Valentine if you prefer), and the reason I'm suggesting is that there's a joke it about in italian based on the fact that Valentina sounds like "va lentina", which would translate into "she goes a little slow". "Lenta" means "slow" in italian (feminine form) and "lentina" is the diminuitive form (a little slow). "Va" means "he/ she goes".

Also, maybe you'd like to know that the italian spelling is Liliana, with one 'l'.

Keep us updated!!

Patience... but that's probably not very helpful. You can search the baby name sites for meanings as well.

Good luck.

YES! BehindTheName (http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?terms=patience&nmd=m&gender=both&operator=or) answers all.

From Greek mythology: Odysseus was waylaid by Calypso (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calypso_(mythology)) — whose name means "I will conceal" — for SEVEN YEARS! So if your little woman is putting things off... hey. Lilliana Calypso?

Just a note: Firefox is red-underlining Lilliana as misspelled, but it accepts Liliana as a legitimate spelling. And LJ too.

When I searched the baby name site for names meaning "Patience", Patience was really the only one that came up. I like the above suggestions of Valentina, although I would change it to Valentine because it flows better with Lilliana.

Good luck! =)

Well obviously there's the name Patience.

I can't think of anything else suitable.

Lilliana Patience Elizabeth has a really prety flow to it, and the first middle divides the tongue twisty L's.

I hope everything goes well for you :-)

I knew a Polish lady named that, but she spelled it Erzbeta (prn Ej-bee-eh-ta, french j)

I also had a polish colleague named Marta, who had a daugher named Patrycya (Pah-TREE-ts-yah)

I did some searching and all I could come up with was the Arabic name Inas (EE-nahs), meaning "nice time".

Good luck to you! How exciting!

a few things i found:

PATIENCE - Gender: Feminine Usage: English Pronounced: PAY-shənts

From the English word patience, ultimately from Latin patientia, a derivative of pati "to suffer". This was one of the virtue names coined by the Puritans in the 17th century.

Patience has 4 variant forms: Paciencia, Patient, Patienzia and Pazienza.

=====

"Aina": African (Nigerian) name meaning "difficult birth".

and good luck with the baby! :]

I think Lilliana Elizabeth is a little repetitive because Lily is sometimes used as a nn for Elizabeth. It seems odd to me.

I adore the name Valentine for a girl (Ender's Game), and I love how it sounds with Lilliana. I vote for this a million times!

Good luck!

First, congrats on your baby! :)

Second, your request is quite a coincidence too as just last night I was looking for names with the same meaning your looking for, for a friend of mine who's about to have a baby she's waited years and years for!

Anyway here the names I found.

Kayin - African, means "long awaited child" not sure on pronunciation but I'm guessing "Kye-in". or "Kah-yin"

Onieda - Native American, means "eagerly awaited"

Hesperia - Spanish, means "tardy; late"

Xioley - found at www.babiesonline, and it said it means "long awaited"

I found Kayin first and so I'm partial to it, and though it's apparently a girls name, I would prefer using it on a boy instead, and think the nick name "Kye", would be cute.

I'm not sure about Xioley as there was no origin with it, but I think it's kind of cute and would be my second choice.

It's tough because there doesn't seem to be many names with the appropriate meaning, that sound great. I hope you can decide on something you're most happy with! :)

It's not quite the same thing, but my friend's daughter's middle name is

Omolara

It means "born at the right time".

You know, b/c she chose her own time to come!

Oh, please. Lilliana Elizabeth. Lilli is a diminuitive of Elizabeth (and my name) so really, you're naming her Elizabethana Elizabeth. The suffix -ana does not make it a very different name.

What about Lilliana Susan English?
Lilliana Claudia English
Lilliana Pearl English? Oh, I love Pearl.
Lilliana Georgina English
Lilliana Frances English
Lilliana Katarina English

Good luck & well wishes!
