I had dream last night where I met a cute little girl that lived in a room above mine, connected through a glass. She was about 8 years old, blond, brown eyes, with hippie-chic parents and a fantastic collection of Vintage Rock CD's, that you definitely wouldn't expect to see in a child's bedroom.

We communicated through the glass window by raising notebooks with messages on them, and that's how I learned her name was Mania.

At first, I thought it was read MAHN-yah, as there are legit italian names as Tania, Vania, Dania, etc, but then I heard her saying it and it was Mah-NEE-ah, just like the italian word "mania", meaning, well, mania in english.

Obviously it would be cruel to use it, but I can't help liking it! :)

WDYT?

If there was no meaning attached to 'mania', I would quite like it as well!

When I saw it, all I though was Maniac. Meanings aside, I sitll don't like the sound of it.

Ahh, isn't Italian beautiful? :D
But yes, it's unusable as a name, I think. Though it's a lot better than some of the names I see in these birth announcements. *shudders*

what an interesting dream.

the name itself makes me think of the old hitchcock film "marnie". whose title obviously is a play on words too. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058329/

Mah-Nee-ah sounds like a nice name to my English ears. May-nee-uh actually isn't too bad either, except for the meaning. She sounds nice in your dream, but I keep picturing her as some sort of demon-child running around, whirlwind of chaos, in some sort of thriller movie. Kind of creeps me out actually. *shudders* Yet I find myself wanting to write a book about. Haha.

Oh, and I absolutely LOVE dreams. I have really detailed ones with actual storylines most of the time. Anyway, I really liked getting to read about yours.

I love that, it could never be used, but I love it!

I would have thought it a nickname of Manon (albeit a cruel one).
