It depends on the region, but it's considered a "national dish" of Spain, usually made with rice, vegetables, beans, and seafood like scallops and shrimp or other kinds of meat.

nope, imagine a j-ish sounding sound in the middle. sort of like age but not so hard on the juh sound. so aje.

the double ll in spanish is pronounced different in different places, but here in mexico city it has this j-ish sound to it. when i was in texas it had more of a yuh sound to it. i am leaning more towards the mexico mexican pronunciation being correct rather than texan mexican.

it's beans, i am not annoyed at all:)
but south american spanish is not always the same as latin american, some words are different and pronunciation can be very different as well. for instance, argentinians somehow manage to sound like they are speaking italian.
it's sort of like how english can be quite different depending on where you go.

your best bet for pronouncing the double l would be by saying it the way you would say it in the word quesadilla, like a y sound. i didn't know mexico mexicans pronounced it with a more j sound until i came here, and i am still not very good at it (and sometimes i hear one here or there pronounce it that way). i just try to stick to the rules of spanish alphabet and remember where the verbal accent should be.
