You named your kid after a part of the human nipple??

One of my friends is a speech therapist at an elementary school, and she posted on her Facebook about some of the, shall we say, interesting names of her students. I just had to share these because they're a classic case study in how not to name your kids.

Kwntyn--Pronounced like Quentin, but devoid of all regular vowels. An i, an e, heck even a y after the w would have made it slightly more tolerable.

Eriola--Yes, it pronounced like areola, the area surrounding a nipple.

Yaa--Pronounced like the word yah or yeah.

Krustini--Like the Italian bread.

NikeAira--It's pronounced Nike (like the shoe) Air-uh, she was named after the shoe, and apparently she is proud to tell everyone that she was named after the shoe.

Franchika

Iceez--Like Icees slushies?

Nokia--Yep, just like the cell phone company.

Jatwon Lakwon

Thoughts?

Eriola and Krustini are awful.

Nokia sounds like it's a Japanese name, and probably was before the phone company came out, so... that name's not so bad to me.

Jatwon Lakwon is pretty bad too... *shakes head*

Nokia's Finnish, actually, but as far as I know, it's not a personal name.

Ah ok :)

Nokia is actually 100% Finnish, it's a name of a city here and also name of several companies that make cellphones, rubber boots, tires etc. It's not used as a personal name though.

roflmfao.... omg... that's so from 'Transformers'!!!!

Agent Simmons: Ooh. Nokia's are real nasty. You've gotta respect the Japanese. They know the way of the samurai.
Maggie Madsen: whispers Nokia's from Finland.
Keller: Yes, but he's, you know, a little strange. He's a little strange.

LOL see? Common mistake...

I think the two that bother me more are Iceez (that's a rapper name if I ever heard one) and NikeAira. Nike would almost be acceptable, because it was a Greek goddess before it was a shoe company. But combined, that's just really bad.

The ones that bother me least are Nokia, and maybe Yaa.

Actually, I know an "Aireola" too. (Spelled that way.) It seems nipple naming is way more common than you would think.

I think it is NikeAira that bothers the most. Why not class it up a bit with a brother they call DocMartin? That is just ridiculous.

they all need speech therapy? lol. why am i not surprised!!!

i work with two guys with strange names (first and last name): chin bum and kleang khorn (sounds like clang corn)

NikeAira.. oh my

[identity profile] 0o-faerie.livejournal.com 2008-10-30 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, those are bad!

Actually, I've always kind of liked Nikè (NEEK-eh), like the goddess, but I'm afraid it will always be pronounced like Nike (the shoe).

NikeAira is ridiculous, if she wasn't so proud she could always say she was named after the Roman Goddess.

I like Francesca as a name, but Fran-chick-uh? Or is it Fran-cheek-uh? Either way, thumbs down!
