[identity profile] cremepuff.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
One of my friends is a speech therapist at an elementary school, and she posted on her Facebook about some of the, shall we say, interesting names of her students. I just had to share these because they're a classic case study in how not to name your kids.

Kwntyn--Pronounced like Quentin, but devoid of all regular vowels. An i, an e, heck even a y after the w would have made it slightly more tolerable.

Eriola--Yes, it pronounced like areola, the area surrounding a nipple.

Yaa--Pronounced like the word yah or yeah.

Krustini--Like the Italian bread.

NikeAira--It's pronounced Nike (like the shoe) Air-uh, she was named after the shoe, and apparently she is proud to tell everyone that she was named after the shoe.

Franchika

Iceez--Like Icees slushies?

Nokia--Yep, just like the cell phone company.

Wow, those are bad!

Actually, I've always kind of liked Nikè (NEEK-eh), like the goddess, but I'm afraid it will always be pronounced like Nike (the shoe).
