I've known of a few people whose names have started with 'Mc'. What do you think of these names in general? Are there any you like?

I've come across:
McKenna
McHale (pronounced like mick-HALE)
McCall (f)

I do not like McNames at all. They will always be last names as far as I'm concerned.

The first McName I encountered was a McKenzie when I was about 10 (she was 12ish), which was 13 years ago. I remember thinking how odd it was that she had a last name as a first name.

I know this is a VERY unpopular opinion in this community, but I really like the name McKenna, actually, though I'm not a fan of the capital letter in the middle of a name thing.

McKenna isn't terrible but to me McNames are last names, like sarahness said.

I know Mc names are generally disliked in this community, however, McKenna has been my favorite name for a very long time.

Actually...my Aunt had her little girl 7 years ago and I suggest McKenna. She used it.

I was excited then. But now I'm real mad that I suggested it because now when I have a girl I can't name her McKenna! lol

My last name is McKenna, so they're all a little weird to me, but there are some that I like. I'd never use them, though.

I kind of like it too, but maybe spelled Mackenzie.

I prefer Makenna to McKenna. Don't think I'd use either though.

I confess to liking McKenzie, even spelled that way, because of fond memories of a great girl I coached six years ago who had that name. It suited her.

Generally speaking, no on Mc-names, though.

I think that they'll always just scream surnames. I can't think of any that I like.

I have a McKenna in my 2nd grade class this year. I love the idea of the name, however, phonetically is irks me. Clearly they are going for the pronunciation to be Muh-Kenna....beautiful BUT technically "Mc" is said Mick...as in my last name McAdams (said Mick-Adams) or in the name McHale said Mich-Hale. So Muh-Kenna should be said Mick-Kenna.

Nothing about the spelling McKenna should properly be pronounced MUH-kenna.

PS: I do adore the last names as first names movement :]

McKenna has a kind of nice sound to it but isn't something I would ever come near to considering using for a first name. I knew a boy with it as a surname.
McHale is one that I really like the sound of, but again, wouldn't use.
McCall seems a bit ridiculous to me.

I never liked the name Mackenzie before, but now, I'm friends with one and I really like the sound of it. I still wouldn't use it because it has become so popular and it's way too surname-y for me.
....says the person who loves Harrison.

I hate them all. McKinley tops my list of McHatred.

I generally don't like them. They are surnames to me, and I don't like that the 'mac' part means 'son of'.

However I do have a soft spot for Mackenzie. I would never use it, because there are names I like a lot more, but I do think it sounds nice.

Another "too last-name-y" vote. Although I have seen family names used as middle names, and I kind of liked that.
