....love a name but dispise the shortened version?

For example, my name is Jillian.  I love it.  But most people, of course, shorten it to Jill.  I don't mind it, I've gotten use to it but deep down I think it's too short, plain and boring!  I'm so glad I have Jillian to go by professionally. 

Have you come across any names that irk you like this?

ugh I hate the name Gabby, but I do like Gabrielle/Gabriella. I once knew a girl named Gabrielle who was called Abbey! much better.
