(no subject)

Although Baby is sending me decidedly female vibes, I've been trying to come up with at least a few boy's names I like. The problem is there are a few girls names that I just adore, while boy names all just sound alright to me. But here's the list anyway-

Westley or Wesley Michael (which do you all like better?)
Caleb Michael
and I don't know what anyone else will think about this but I just love the name Gilbert (as in Gilbert Blythe, from Anne of Green Gables) so Gilbert Michael- but would that be mean? It seems like it would be easy to make fun of, possibly.

Thanks!

I prefer Wesley Michael of the two.

Love Caleb Michael

Do not like Gilbert Michael at all =/

I think Gilbert is one of the ugliest names ever....
Wesley is alright, and Micheal makes a great middle name, but how about these names (not my tastes, but sound like the names you like?), hope it helps :)!

Aaron
Adam
Andrew
Asher
Alexander
Benjamin
Cain
Christopher
Corin
Curtis
Duncan
David
Elijah
Ezra
Gabriel
Gideon
Jared (Jared Micheal sounds really nice)
Jesse
Joshua
Isaac
Isaiah
Luke
Mark
Micah
Nicholas
Noah
Osric
Oliver
Quintis
Reuben
Ross
Robert (sounds similar, but a little nicer than "Gilbert")
Samuel
Seth
Simon
Timothy
Tobias
Thomas
Tobiah
Zacharias

Wesley, not Westley.

And Gilbert is mean. I just don't think it's a nice name at all. Might make for a strong middle name, but as a first, there's a lot better choices.

I like Wesley Michael better.

As soon as you said Gilbert, before I moved on to the rest of the sentence, I was like, awwww.... Jonathan Crombie in AOGG... I love it, lol.

Yes, I never got all the way through all the books - but the movies are the first movies I ever saw (thank you to my sister!) and I loved them. Still do! They are the movies that made me want to make movies.

definitely Wesley over Westley. I know Princess of the Bride is awesome and all, but no no.

I can't decide if I like Caleb or Wesley better though! both are nice.

Gil isn't so bad, but Gilbert is just nerdy. but like someone else said, it would make a good middle name! Wesley Gilbert perhaps?

What about Michael Gilbert? But yeah, it does sound a little dated. Too bad, because I love that story. Otherwise I like Caleb Michael and Wesley Michael ok. I'm not wild about either Caleb or Wesley, but they're nice traditional names that transition well to adulthood.

I like Wesley

Gilbert Blythe was a great guy. It'd almost be okay...

except...

somewhere a few years back, Leonardo DiCaprio portrayed the mentally retarded boy in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and he did such a good job that whenever I see/hear the name Gilbert, I can hear Leo going "Gilbeeeert!"
(Great movie btw)

Blythe would be a cute middle name for a girl, but you have those picked out...

Westley is okay. If you keep the "t" the kid will be correcting people the rest of his life. Wesley is okay. Michael is okay. Caleb is okay. See, I'm not excited about those names either.

Any other literary male characters you like?

Atticus is such a great name but I don't have nerve to use it. "Harper" is a nice name in homage to TKAM, but I also think of Harper as a girl's name. I guess it could work for a boy.

Harper Wesley is nice. Or flip it.

re: p.s. Thanks, she's my girl. Her name is Halo, after the game.

Wesley over Westley DEFINITELY.

But, that said, I'm not a fan of the name Wesley, really.

I love Caleb.

Gilbert is a pretty popular name around here (AZ), mostly with Mexicans. I think its nice. Its actually my (white) boss' middle name. heh.

Caleb has always been a favorite of mine! That gets my vote.

On the Wesley/Westley debate: I find Westley very difficult to say. I like Wesley though. Another Princess Bride fan!

what are your girls names? maybe we can suggest boys names kind of in the style of the girls ones. :)

I named my son Wesley, so of course I love that name!! :D
