Need help with naming my character...

First time posting here,
i was wondering what you guys think of the name Laurence, but for a girl... ? 
i personally love it, but my sister and some others said it was no good. :P


also: 
I am writing a fantasy story and my main character is a boy named Elliot.
I need a second and last name for him, any ideas?
He is a modern kid, aged 16. Not from the old times or anything... just something simple and nice sounding.

A Dutch princess (I'm Dutch) is called Eloise, but her full name is Eloise Sophie Beatrix Laurence. They pronounce Laurence the French way though. That way, I consider it a girl's name, but pronounced the English way, it's a boy's name to me.

As for your story...
