I know you guys will give me your honest opinion...but I am due here pretty soon and we still don't have a name for our daughter to be.  We've thrown around Emma and Olivia but they're really common so I'm leary about using them.  Sibset is Kylie and Brennen and we also like McKenna...  another name that's crossed our path is Novella.  We met a little girl with this name who was ADORABLE and the name has just stuck with me.  WDYT?

lol, although it has the double 'L' (the 'y' sound), no one anywhere here in South TX or the border towns pronounces 'novella' (when speaking of the Spanish soap operas) with the 'y' sound.

It's pronounced: "no-bel(l)-ah'

some gringo spanish-speakers may pronounce it: 'no-vel(l)-ah' with the english 'v' sound rather than 'b' sound for the letter 'v'.

but if you pronounce it with the 'y' sound that's cool too.

you say 'potatoe' .... i say 'vodka'... it's the same thing. a 'novella' in the hispanic/american culture is a soap opera. i still don't like the name. :)

Telenovela is spelled with one 'l', hence it being pronounced 'no-bel-ah'.

But I'm sure if someone had the name Novella, that would spring to a lot of peoples minds!

ya know... come to think of it i've never seen it spelled out... just always heard it...that's just how i would have spelled it b/c of the english word.

i like some Novela's (lol spelled it right) - unlike the american Soap Operas - they END!!!! rofl. they don't last 15-25yrs... lol

HAha I know! I was at a Colombian woman's house once and she was watching Passions & was all proud of herself 'cause she'd been watching it for a whole year and was like "Yeah it must be going to end soon! I can't wait!" and I had to tell her no... North American Soap Operas never, ever end, and the plot just gets crazier and crazier.

Spanish novelas are for sure way better!

ah, but no guarantees your kid won't want warm climates and move to Cali, or Florida, or Texas... lol at least prepare her if you name her that.

be like: "oh, and if latin ppl kinda laugh at your name, it's b/c it's the word for 'soap opera' in their language."

:D
