orion has been at the top of my list for a while now, along with andromeda for a girl, and i'm coming to grips with the fact that they're very out there and that i might be growing out of my "oh my gosh, mythology names rock!" phase.
There's a saying that goes 'kill your babies'. We all have a tendency to cling on to pet ideas, and sometimes you have to let go. I think Andromeda is cool actually, but it's also self-indulgent.
That isn't to say you totally have to ditch mythology names, there are lots which are still 'popular' enough to be okay (i.e. not a burden for the name-bearer), like Pandora or Persephone.
And fashionable names are so weird nowadays it's quite radical to use old-fashioned 'boring' names like Geoffrey. It just happened to be one I really don't like. I do like Arthur, Percy and Basil, for example.
