How do you prounonce the boy's name "Ciaran"?

Seer-an? Keer-an? See-ar-an? Something else?

See-air-in. I have no idea how it's actually pronounced, but that's how I would say it.

Ciara is actually pronounced KEER-a. Ciaran is pronounced KEER-an. IF you're pronouncing them correctly.

Oddly enough, my husband uses a variant of this online, as cieran. We say seer-an, because we're stupid apparently. :P

It's 'KEER-un'. Everyone I've ever heard of with the name has pronounced it like that.

(Edited to clarify pronunciation)

I know a Ciaran, and he says it KEER-ann. I have always hated the name, both the spelling and how it sounds.

I have no idea how this name was originally meant to be pronounced and for that reason I don't like it. Too much confusion when the substitute teachers are taking attendance. I happen to kind of like the name Siobhan but would be very reluctant to use it as a first name because how many people REALLY know how to say it? Before I knew how to pronounce it I wanted to say see-OH-ben.

I always first want to say see-ar-an when I see it, even though I know it's keer-an. I just prefer the K spellings I guess.

It's KEER-an. It's Celtic, which is why the spelling-to-speech rules are different.
