i don't think quinlyn is the type of name that wouldn't be taken seriously. when i hear about the ridiculous names that will mess up a kid's future, i think of beasts like: aaleeshuh or j-dinn.

Really? To me, Quinlyn is one of the beasts. It's kind of a slippery slope matter: where does one draw the line? It is a beast lesser so, I see eye to eye with you there, but still one (thanks to the already pointed out ugly -lyn ending). And Quinlyn has no meaning but Quinn minus one n and a lyn thrown on the end, or the masculine surname Quinlan, unproperly fymynised. Quinn is less of a disgrace for a girl, one that could be taken more seriously.

For example, if I had to be operated on, and there were two identically achieved surgeons, I would choose Victoria Price, Katharine Price, Marie Price than Quinlyn Price. If I had to trust my finances with an Anne Price, Frances Price, Estelle Price or Quinlyn Price, the former three surely win out. This is because made up names or those similar to Quinlyn are socially correlated with being uneducated (regardless of the fact they did not choose their name) and most would rather have important matters handled with a responsible, mature person and these traits are connected with more traditional names.

i don't know. i guess i just put quinlan (and other spelling variations of it) in the same category as other trendy last names that have become first names: beckett, jackson, madison, etc.
