[identity profile] pythianlegume7.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Well, I've totally revamped my name list! I want opinions, but I always feel a little weird posting my list here when I'm not expecting or anything, so I thought we could make a game of it. We did this before and I thought it went pretty well.

Post your favorites in the comments (I'd say 5 girls and 5 boys, but I know a lot of people have less than that or can't narrow it down that far, so whatever works for you). Then, you must comment on 3 other peoples' name lists. You can comment about the flow of the names, whether or not you like them, suggest other names they may like, or really you can just write whatever you want! If you are one of the first three to comment with your name list, then wait awhile and then come back to do your replies when there are more.

I know this is a community for naming and we all may as well make our own posts about names and get advice from that, but maybe other people feel strange posting their lists like I do, so this could be fun and productive!

"Lex" is for Lex Luthor, so I totally get you there. XDD I love tons of comic book names that I could never use together (Clark and Lex, um, no; and also Bruce, Jean, Gordon, Charles, asldjsaflj I need to stop now) because people would get it, and it would just not be cute. The only actual person I can conceive of naming a child after is one professor, and I'm not in love with his name. The family name trend just boggles my mind. I have three cousins (count 'em!) named Morgan, all within 2 years' age of each other, plus my teenage sister. >>

I have the same problem with boys' names, actually, but I think the 2-3 that I love enough to use will more than suffice, as I don't plan on having a litter.

I like old-fashioned names, but I prefer it when they come with nns that sound a bit more modern. And I think that Lex and Clark is uber obvious, sadly -- I love both names (and both characters, heh), but I like Lex more. Gordon is really growing on me since one of your polls. I sense that this is a Very Bad Thing.

I think with naming children after things, the name most importantly has to work on its own and be one that you like. And what I'd be naming them after would have to have great personal significance to me. I don't really feel that way for any of my family members, sad to say, and the ones who come close fall completely short on the first criteria (I don't like their actual names).

I think people (in my circles at least) would notice Gordon and Bruce, but maybe not Gordon and Lex. Well...my circle probably still would (XP), but not most people. Now I'm starting to think it would be kind of a cool "sibset" idea to try and fit it in really subtly (i.e. with some less recognizable ones). Don't tempt me!
