Boy, by the following strange logic: I know Eliana and Liana are girl's names, so I would assume Lian was male like boy name Elian. Possibly not the most accurate way of doing it...

I'd assume it was a typo for Liam.

Then I'd assume it was an unusual spelling of Leanne.

So I guess I could go either way.

I knew a boy called Lien. Assuming it's pronounced like that (Liam with an N really), I'd say boy.

Definitely boy. It is pronounced the same way as some people pronounce Leon (the pronunciation is a regional thing), so I see them as basically the same name.
