Boy, by the following strange logic: I know Eliana and Liana are girl's names, so I would assume Lian was male like boy name Elian. Possibly not the most accurate way of doing it...
Definitely boy. It is pronounced the same way as some people pronounce Leon (the pronunciation is a regional thing), so I see them as basically the same name.
