My brain read it as "Angie," originally, then corrected itself to say something closer to "ON-yuh." If the former is correct, not a big fan. If the latter, it's pretty and exotic, but I think it would confuse a lot of people who speak English.

First thought was "Eww, is that Angie?"
Then "Maybe it's an-hey"

Either Anya or Anye (like Kanye but without the K).
I think it's one of those names that looks pretty spelled out but would either sound awful or result in a ton of mispronounciations.

Ahn-yeh. I can't really explain the -e sound, kind of like a clipped -ah.

Wow I'm surprised at all the Angie responses. To me it was obviously Anya. I suppose it depends where the name comes from. If it was a language like German or Dutch or something similar, I think it would definitely be Anya. But other languages would pronounce it differently I guess.

It comes from being exposed to so many kids whose parents tried to creative-up their otherwise normal names. =)

The first thing my brain thought was Anya.
