[identity profile] againstthesea.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

My husband and I found out a few weeks ago that we're expecting twins, and we need help choosing names! Between the two of us, we have a pretty extensive list of names to choose from, but we're at a loss regarding combinations. We'd really appreciate some input.

Some important information is that my husband is of Welsh/English heritage, which is where we're heading for a first middle name, and I'm Japanese-American, which we want for a second middle name. Below are our favorites, split between first names and middle names:

Boys: (First)

James
Asher
Ryan
Adam
Collin
Ioan (husband's father's name)
Noah

(1st Middle)

Estlin
Benjamin (my father's name)
Alexander
William
Rhys (husband's grandfather's name)
Nicolas

(2nd Middle)

Hitoshi - 'even tempered' (my grandfather's name)
Kaito - 'the sea' (my other grandfather's name)
Yasuo - 'peaceful'
Kanbai - 'winter plum blossom'
Akeno - 'brightest point of the dawn'

Girls: (First)

Isla
Reiva
Emilie
Ame (pr. 'Ah-meh' in Japanese)
Andra (pr. 'Ahn-drah')
Cira (pr. 'Chi-rah' in Italian)
Anais

(1st Middle)

Cadence
Brielle
Lilia
Carys
Catherine

(2nd Middle)

Ayame - 'an iris' (pr. 'Ayah-meh' my mom's favorite flower)
Chizu - 'a thousand cranes'
Mine - 'resolute protector' (pr. 'Mee-neh', my mom's name)
Miu - 'beautiful feathers'
Hasu - 'lotus blossom'

My personal favorites are James Asher Hitoshi (nn: Jamie) and Isla Cadence Ayame, while my husband is wanting to hear what you all say.

If you could do all three combinations, that would be amazing! Thanks!

I sort of like Adam Rhys Akeno and Emilie Catherine Ayame or Emilie Catherine Hasu.

Of course, I could be partial because my daughter's name is Emilie. Would you be pronouncing it like Emily or like the French version, "Eh-ME-lay"? We pronounce it as Emily. :)

ETA: Duh...I guess since there are two babies you'd possibly need two names for each gender.

2nd boy combo: James Alexander Hitoshi
2nd girl combo: Isla Catherine Ayame

Yes. The way the French spelling flows when it's written out is one of the things that got me. And both my husband and I have very heavy French heritages, so we wanted to honor that. The Emily prn. is classic, though. It's been a very very very popular name the past few years, but in my mind, it's classy and classic. :) I pretty much like all of your names, though!
