Jul. 10th, 2008 10:06 pmThoughts
A client of mine came in with her gorgeous blonde, blue-eyed 5 year old daughter named DaVinci. They call her Vinch. The woman was an art major. I was so pleasantly stunned. Thoughts?
Then, my physical therapist has a son named Ryker. Of course I asked and she said her husband was a trekkie (so should be spelled Riker). Thoughts?
Also, I'm a big fan of Mark Twain and have always loved the named Sawyer for a boy. WDYT?

Date: 2008-07-11 03:22 am (UTC)I kinda like DaVinci, oddly enough. I think I'm losing my sanity. "Vinch" is a terrible nn. Even "Davi" would be better.
Aaaaand, the only Sawyer I know is a girl. So... Sawyer is weird to think of as a boy's name.

Date: 2008-07-11 01:27 pm (UTC)this. Good grief what was she thinking? "Everyone will know how intelligent and artsy I am if I burden my daughter with a famous Italian surname!"

Date: 2008-07-11 10:13 am (UTC)Although it would be like Mackenzie (last name and on a girl) so I guess it's creative in a good way, after all?
Sawyer makes me think of one who saws.
Like Parker to me is someone who parks and Trayer someone who stashes trays.
And the list goes on, as you'd imagine..

Date: 2008-07-11 01:07 pm (UTC)I love Sawyer....and DaVinci is actually kind of striking to me. I'm not sure how I'd feel about it on an adult, but on a little girl I kind of like it.

Date: 2008-07-11 02:17 pm (UTC)Riker is not great as a first name, I think (and I like Number One!). And the misspelling is yuck.
I like Sawyer. (If the etymology doesn't bug you, that's fine.) :)

Date: 2008-07-11 03:20 pm (UTC)I agree, Leonardo or Mona would be more appropriate than er DaVinci for a honorary name.

Date: 2008-07-11 11:18 pm (UTC)I love Sawyer, but I love it on a girl. Sawyer Kate is one of my top girl names...and no, I've never watched Lost. But I've been made well aware of the connection.
