Date: 2006-02-19 05:50 pm (UTC)McCabe-Sounds too much like a last name, so no.
Griffin-I love this, but no guts to use it. Makes me think of Gryffindor.
Graham-No, because I think of the dad on "My So Called Life" and I have never liked how it is spelled. Gra-HAM but it's supposed to be pronounced Gram. Errrrr.
Caleb-Like it a lot, but don't love it. Too common. I'm a sucker for "Cale" though.
George-I cannot see a tiny sweet baby named George.
Miller-Love it! Know a little boy named this!
James-Too common, too boring for me.
Thomas-Meh, it's okay.
Tucker-Makes me think of "Old Man Tucker" and waaaaaaay too many limericks rhyme with this one.
Jack-Love it.
Grayer-I like Grayson better.
Patrick-Like it, but like Thomas, will never use it.
Aidan-No no nonooooo too common.
Finn-Makes me think of Huck. Better as a pet name.
Tanner-I used to like it. What changed it is like "Grayer". No, make it tanner. No, make it grayer. No, make it blacker. It needs to be greener! It's too....colorish.
Sawyer-Good as a middle name. I respect the person who uses this as a first name, but my family is a bunch of rednecks and they'd say "Soyer."
GIRLS:
Emily-Too common too common too common. One day there will be nursing homes filled with Emilys and Caitlins and Emmas and Mackenzies.
Elizabeth-Classic and beautiful.
Caroline-It is beautiful, but not for me.
Margaret-I respect the person who uses this. I like it 'cause it's not so common, but I don'tl ike it because I can't picture a tiny baby named Margaret.
Katherine-Classic, but not for me.
Tierney-No. Reminds me of tyranny.
Charlotte-Beautiful!
Schuyler (sky-ler)-Tooooooo common and I know too many boys named Skylar.
Addison (yes i know it means Son of Adam...i dont like it for a boy)-I like Addie, but not Addison.
Callaway-Sounds like a family name. It's okay as a middle name, but not a first name. A boy, okay.
Chapel-This seems beautiful but I don't know how well it would go over...I can respect someone who uses it.
Peyton-NO no nononoooo because I know a girl Peyton. So it's name association here. I also know more boy Peytons....like Skylar.
Avery-I like it Averie better.
Lilly-I like Lily better, but this name is on my top ten list.
Nell-Makes me think of the movie. Or Nail.
Bryn-Love it!!
Ella-Mmmmm....pretty but not for me. It's a name that ages well.
Molly-That's my kitty! I think it's cute for a little girl and a soccer mom, but not in between.
Kellen-This is interesting. I actually like it.
Chapin-I think people would flub up the pronunciation. Chay-pin or Shay-pin or Sha-pin or Chappin.
Elliot-Not for a girl.
Grace-Gorgeous, but sadly overused.
Sailor-Nope nope nope unless you had a Navy spouse.
Bronwyn-Nice. I respect those who use this.
Sutton-Not for a girl. I think it's a nice boys' name.
Morgan-it's okay. Totally not for me, but it's not overused and it's not weird.

Date: 2006-02-19 06:39 pm (UTC)I agree with your ideas on Graham - i dont love the idea of having the word Ham in my babies name haha.
I love Cale too! And Miller, im glad someone else likes this - i really like surnames as first names, and i think Miller is such a strong name.
I love Sawyer, love your comment too haha - im from NY, so hopefully it would come out alright here.
If i named a girl Margaret, i would probably call her Maggie, its a nice little girl name.
I knew a woman named Chapel, and i have always found it interesting, it fit her so well- but i dont know i would name a child it.
Averie is so pretty!
I would prounounce Chapin: Chay-pin, (the beginning rhymes with Jay)
Grace is overused, im hoping that by the time i have kids it has left the 'popular' list and my girl can just know lots of older girls with her name
Thanks!1
