This post is about this post, so read that before this:]
Anyway, I first off want to thank all of those who responded with the awesome name suggestions. I thought about all of them, and if I'm not mistaken, Evelyn popped up somewhere.
I really love the name Evelyn. But I'm having difficulty deciding which pronunciation I should use. I could say:
EH-veh-lyn
or
EE-veh-lyn
Honestly, I lik the first pronunciation better, but I also like the nicknames "eve" and "evie", and the second pronunciation would "allow" that, I guess you could say. "Ev" and "Ehvie" sound kind of weird, you know? But then, EE-veh-lyn sounds like "evil" and I don't like that:[. So, yeah, ideas?
Second thing about the name, the spelling. Evelyn looks...awkward to me, you know? But over the course of a week, how many times am I going to spell the name out, especially if it's a nickname? Not a lot, if any. But...still.
I think it's the "y" that's throwing the name off, so do you guys have any alternate spellings? Evelin?
Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!
(PS-I'm still open to new name suggestions entirely, so if you have one, go ahead and tell me!)

Date: 2008-07-02 01:59 am (UTC)The first pronunciation is the typical one, and I don't think you should change it. IMO, you could still use Eve or Evie as a nickname.
Same with the spelling... You should keep the traditional spelling. I don't think it looks awkward at all. That's just my opinion though! If you don't really love how the name looks or sounds, you should probably look for another name.
