Yeah, yeah... I don't know. I know enough of Spanish and French to see the name Tristan and think "sad." To me, that is proof enough.

well, i'm just thinking since Tristan isn't originally any sort of latin/romance name, that wouldn't be the root.

"Triste" means sad or depressed in Spanish, I think that is what they meant.
