Amber - Kind of a dated and semi-trashy sounding 80s name to me. (Not that I haven't known perfectly nice Ambers, but somehow that image remains.) Ashland - I don't like names to have the word Land in them. Erica - Eh. I don't see any appeal. Kaitlyn - The world is already saturated with Katelyn/Caitlyn/Caitlins. Enough already.
Rhian - What does this offer that Ryan doesn't, besides being a big ol' hassle? Tristan - Honestly can't stand this. Wussy, depressing (root word means "sad"), "flash-in-the-pan" trendy (meaning it will sound like an ugly dated name in the years to come). Talan - Like a bird claw but misspelled? Andon - Fine
Autumn - Lovely. Uncommon but recognizable. Easy to say, spell. Lovely associated imagery. Very pretty name that you rarely see. Alexander - A bit common for my taste, but it's a handsome name, and I liked it far more than you other choices.
I agree with all that except I don't like Autumn much either (bah humbug). I've been seeing it a lot lately on this board, too.
And that is EXACTLY what I think about Tristan, but I've never been able to put my finger on it - WUSSY! That is exactly it. (It screams "my emo teenage mom/sister picked my name" ;) I apologize to anyone that really likes it, but that's just the image I get!)
I actually prefer the Caitlin spelling too but, this is really dumb, I like writing K's in cursive better, lol. And our last name also starts with a C so I would rather the initials be KEC rather than CEC. I'm just weird though.
Don't spell it Rhian. First of all, it looks like a girl's name (but pronounced Ree-ann), and second, "unique" spellings like that are just awful. If you really want to name your kid Ryan, then just name him Ryan.
I like Alexander and while I do like Kaitlyn, I think it's way too popular/trendy. I hate Tristan and can't understand why it's becoming so popular. It just sounds so wimpy and ugh.
lol yeah, after I posted that, I was like "Ashland... where the heck HAVE I seen that?!" and realized I'd seen signs for it on my travels through Virginia
Amber - I know many a Amber (my age, 20) and they're all amazing, sweet people... plus, the name itself is simple, but pretty. I like it. Ashland - I agree with the others... having "land" in a name is a bad idea... try Ashlyn or something if you like the "ash" part Erica - I've never liked it... I don't know, it's not pretty at all, it's like "we wanted a boy and wanted to name him Eric, oops, you're a girl, ok, we'll add an 'a'" ... I know my name is a lot like that, so I shouldn't talk, but Erica has always had that masculine feel to me. Kaitlyn - There are SO many... Rhian - If you like "Ryan", name him "Ryan"... seriously, this spelling is a bad idea. Tristan - It means "sad", so what? I think it's a really noble sounding name. (plus it's the male version of my name, so I'm bias, haha, my name means sad to btw, hasn't changed my life at all :P!). I know it's really trendy right now, but I still think it's a good, strong name Talan - Isn't that a part of a chicken? Oh wait, a car? I don't like it, sorry. Andon - sounds like a girls name. Autumn - I've never been that much of a fan, but it's alright. Alexander - a good middle name...
Amber- Very pretty, i don't think it's trashy at all...i'm sure there are trashy Ambers out there but that's nothing to do with the name! Ashland - Sounds like a boys name... Erica - Never liked it...I agree with the above "we wanted a boy.." Kaitlyn - I really like this name, but i don't like the way you've spelt it. I don't really like K names. It won't look so outdated if you spell it Caitlin- or even Kaitlin because of the initials thing. 'lyn' names with the y are going to be so over soon. Autumn - Getting more & more popular.. but i like it A LOT
Rhian - Oh i like the spelling, probably because i've never especially liked the name Ryan... but i prefer your spelling actually. Tristan - I like this name- it doesnt have agreat meaning, as has been pointed out. Talan - I like it, if it's pronounced Tay-lan (but i would keep it spelt the way you have) Andon - meh... nothing much to say. Alexander- Good strong name, i'd dfiently use it as a middle name, if not a first name.
Amber - hate this name. I've never liked it. Ashland - I hate this name, too. I think a lot more people are starting to use it and it's awful. Why not just Ashley? Erica - this name is pretty cute. Kaitlyn - I like Kaitlyn too Autumn - HATE this name!!!
I like Erica the best out of your girl names.
Boys:
Rhian (pronounced Ryan) - HAAAAAAAAATE. First of all, it looks like a girls name (Ree-ann) I don't see how ANYONE would look at that and think "Ryan" and second of all... why?!?! Why spell it Ryan? No one will pronounce it correctly, it looks weird and he's going to hate correcting everyone. Spell it Ryan if you want to have him called Ryan! Tristan - I hate this name for a boy or girl Talan - omg Laguna Beach. lmao. no thanks. Alexander ("Alex") - its okay, pretty cute Andon - hell no. did you make this up? never heard it... sounds like you got lazy with Brandon or something.
yeah the only boy name I like on your list is Alex
